The Ninth Hour

The Ninth Hour Exhibition portray the terrifying events that changed our world in those terrifying moments on a sunny September morning. We all witnessed the fall of the burning towers and the death of thousand of people. Never had we felt so helpless and confused. The smoke, the falling people and the chaos was too much. The grief, shock, and hanger were overwhelming. What we experienced on September 11th was beyond words. It was like watching the end of the world, but the end was nowhere near.

Many of us were lucky enough to escape bodily harm, though there is an emotional, psychological, and spiritual wound that heals far slower than any physical damage. Our heart was broken, we felt so much sorrow and mixed emotions. We could not completely understand the tragedy of September 11th and its implication. Of being confronted with pure evil, of loosing a friend, and of witnessing the unfathomable atrocity. Part of us wanted to experience the event further. We wanted to feel more deeper in order to reach an acceptance and understanding on a human level.

The Ninth Hour exhibition acknowledged what we saw and thought. It promoted and embraced the emotional authenticity of the tragedy, and brought some of the imagery to those who could not witness the pain that caused a profound shift in our reality. It also honored the heroes of that day, and linked the comradeship that exists between a large sea of humanity. Each painting freezes a moment that changed time and cross boundaries. It is possible for viewer to look at the paintings and immediately make a connection, even though it may be difficult. By allowing people to bear witness to the expression and pain of others, this exhibition is hope to promote a new understanding of the tragedy on a human level.
